Tripoli is the capital city of Libya; the principal sea port, and the largest commercial and manufacturing centre in Libya. It is the major city and the most attractive place in the country for the reason that this city containing some of old fascinated structures and buildings in old town with different designs and affects such as Arabic, Ottoman Turks and Italian influences surrounded by a gorgeous seaside. Also this city has extensive history which goes back to Greek and Roman’s age and before that. Tripoli was founded in the 7th century BC by the Phoenicians, who named it Oea.

The Tripoli metropolitan area (district area) has a population of 1,065,405 (2006 census).
